3. Everything you need to get started
You should have everything ready since you read the introduction, however here is a reminder of what you’re going to need to get started. You’re going to want to grab yourself a laptop to work off of, your mobile phone simply isn’t going to cut it. You’re phone is going to come on handy though so make sure you have that too.
You will need;
- An internet connection
- A smartphone
- A laptop or desktop computer
- A good profile photo (Guide on profile photos included)
- Your old CV’s/Resumes
- Your references and reference letters
- ALL your relevant Certifications and Qualifications
- At least 5 hours of your time, but expect it to take 10 hours.
“What?! 5 hours?”
At least. You should be spending at least 5 hours, if you’re not spending 5 hours making it, it sucks, or you’re some sort of Resumé guru. More realistically it’s going to take you a whole day, and don’t be surprised if you completely start over a couple of times.
It’s normal for this to take time, it’s a process, if it was easy then everyone would have amazing CV’s but the reality is only a tiny proportion of people do.
Prepare yourself mentally and emotionally, there will be a few set backs however keep at it and you’ll have a CV that get’s you jobs, and your time and effort will be returned back to you a thousand fold. It’s one of the best time investments a yachtie can make.
